Our Team

Carla Stent

Carla has held a number of senior positions in banking, private equity and retail industries. She has had direct responsibility for corporate finance & post-merger integration, strategy, business operations, brand development & management and business transformation. Carla has operated at Board level in several countries for organisations including Virgin Group, Barclays Bank plc and the Thomas Cook Group.

Carla leads the MSC Advisory Business, providing interim strategic, financial and operational consulting to clients in the private, public and third sectors. She is also a serial angel investor, as well as a non executive director on the boards and sub committees of Savernake Capital Group, JPM Morgan Elect plc, Marex Spectron Limited, the Post Office and Power to Change Trust. She has previously served on the boards and committees of Christian Aid, Change Alliance (India) and the Princes Teaching Institute.

Carla is a frequent speaker on corporate culture, gender equality and philanthrophy, as well as a mentor to emerging talent.
Carla is a qualified chartered accountant and was born and educated in South Africa.

Laura Halstead

Laura has broad experience of leading businesses through organisational and operational change as well as business planning and operations.

Her most recent role as Head of Operations at the Serpentine Galleries gave her responsibility for fundraising operations encompassing a team of 14 and a fundraising target of £7.8m.

Prior to this, Laura was a Management Consultant at Deloitte for 11 years. During this time Laura worked on a wide range of clients including the BBC, London Organising Committee for the Olympic Games, AXA Life and Siemens.

With knowledge of both commercial and not-for-profit industries, Laura specialises in working hand in hand with C-suite executives to gather information, analyse, recommend and implement significant business change.

Nicky

Nicky has extensive experience in the design, implementation and embedding of risk and control frameworks. She ensures a pragmatic balance between regulatory requirements, good governance and strategic ambition.

Nicky is a qualified chartered accountant and was born and educated in South Africa.

Nicky has held positions in audit at KPMG South Africa, product control at Dresdner Kleinwort London and governance and control across the various business areas of Barclays London.

Gabriella

Gabriella is an experienced assistance to the team.

Martin Stent

Martin has specialised in Front-To-Back Target Operating Model Strategy, Implementation, Business Analysis, Project Management, Change Management, Functional and Business Process Design, Regulatory Recovery & Resolution Planning (RRP). Martin represented UBS Bank AG (Finance) in the post 2008 UK, Swiss and US regulator imposed RRP (“Too big to fail”) programme.

Martin leads the property development division, focusing mainly on mid scale residential development opportunities in the greater London area, including raising primary funding (bank and private).

Martin is an advisor to the Savernake Group’s Audit and Risk Committee and is a Board Member of ‘In Their Life Time’, a subsidiary of Christian Aid – This initiative pioneers new approaches to fight poverty and to scale up effective solutions, in countries like Burundi and India.

Martin is a Chartered Accountant registered in South Africa and England and Wales. He qualified with a B Compt (Hons) from the University of South Africa.
